Do you have OSH procedures in place?

DO YOU NEED AN OSH MANUAL?

Under the provisions of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1992, you must comply with OSH standards and regulations under the Act and be familiar with those standards and regulations that apply to your workplace and provide a workplace free from recognized hazards that can cause serious physical harm or death to your employees regardless of the size of your business.

Safety and health in the workplace is fundamental to the wellbeing of all New Zealanders. The Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 promotes the prevention of harm to all people at work, and others in, or in the vicinity of, places of work. The Act applies to all New Zealand workplaces and places duties on employers, the self-employed, employees, principals and others who are in a position to manage or control hazards. It requires employers and others to maintain safe working environments, and implement sound practices.

Having an effective OSH management system allows you to meet your legal obligations, reduce workplace illness and injury, and minimise the costs associated with workplace accidents. You may even qualify for reimbursement of a portion of your ACC Workplace cover premiums.

Simply buying a generic OSH manual and filing it away does not fulfill your legal obligations under the Health and Safety in Employment Act. Health and safety systems must be specific, active and ongoing to be effective.

I would like to assist you to achieve this, and work with you to provide a user friendly system that meets OSH requirements and does not take all your precious time away from the day to day running of your business, in the most cost-effective way.
